Farmhouse Baked Bean Recipe by MorningStar Kitchen

12 Cups Canned Great Northern or Mixed Beans

1 Large Red Bell Pepper Diced

1 Cup Diced Onion

2 Cups Shredded Carrots (optional)

1/2 Lb. Bacon, Diced

1 Cup Pure Maple Syrup

1/4 Cup Molasses

1 Cup Water

1/2 Cup Firmly Packed Dark Brown Sugar

1 1/2 Tablespoons Mustard

2 Tablespoons Texas Roadhouse Seasoning

2 Tablespoons Seville Orange Peel

1 1/2 Teaspoons Alderwood Smoked Sea Salt

1 Teaspoon Ground Tellicherry Peppercorns

This recipe for baked beans is one of our signature dishes. People from far and wide have come to expect them at certain times throughout the year when we are gathered around the picnic table. We have included carrots in our version because we love the added color, texture, and sweetness they add to the recipe.

Mix all ingredients in a large bowl. Stir to ensure that mixture is well combined. Pour into a Dutch oven or large covered casserole and refrigerate overnight.

In the morning, preheat oven to 275 degrees. Place beans on center rack in oven and bake for 6 hours. Remove top, increase heat to 325 degrees, and bake for another hour. If the beans appear dry, add a little more water at this point.

Remove from oven, stir, and allow to stand for 15 minutes before serving.

Texas Roadhouse
Central Texas is famous for its
roadhouses, where the specialty is
hearty meats, seasoned with spice rubs and smoked for hours. The flavors are savory and sweet at the same time. And always distinctly Texan! Our Roadhouse blend is a tribute to that tradition. It's great on ribs and briskets. Potatoes and corn, too!

Tellicherry Peppercorns
No Home Chef's kitchen is complete
without Tellicherry peppercorns,
which are considered the finest pepper in the world. Left on the vine longer than other black peppercorns, these berries are given time to develop their complex, robust flavor to develop more fully.
